Create Task Packages

Before a task can be loaded onto a device and used by an operator, a task package must be created for that task. A task package is the task that the operator needs to do his or her job and settings specific to that software. VoiceConsole supports both TaskBuilder and VoiceArtisan task packages.

Create a TaskBuilder Task Package

  1. From the VoiceConsole tab, select Device Management.
  2. Under Navigation, click Task Packages.
  3. Under Task Package Actions, select Create new task package.
    The Select Task page opens.
  4. From the Name drop-down list, select a task. If you select Import New Task, you can import the task. See Import Tasks.
  5. Click Next.
The application reads the .zip or .tas task file to determine the host and service names. The application also reads the .vcf file, if it exists, to determine any advanced settings.
    The Set Values page opens.
  6. Using letters, numbers, and spaces: enter a name, spoken name, and description for the new task package.
    • Depending on the language used, some other characters are permitted in the Task Package Name field. For example, for the en_US locale, you can also use the space, period, single quote, dash, and underscore characters.
    • The suggested task package name will include a number - if a task package with the selected name already exists - to make it unique. Task package names must be unique to the site where they are defined.
  7. Configure the Common Settings as desired.
For descriptions of each of these settings, see Common Settings Field Definitions for TaskBuilder Task Packages. If necessary: change, remove, or add Advanced Settings. For descriptions of each of these settings, see Configuration Parameters.
    • Enter advanced settings as setting=value with one setting per line. Any settings entered in the Advanced Settings text box take precedence over any values set up under Common Settings.
    • VoiceConsole automatically adds the setting EnableSecondaryDotWaitMechanism=1 to the task package. You can remove or edit this setting by editing the task package.
  8. Enter Host names as necessary.
    • For devices running VoiceClient 3.6.1 or later, you can enter a host name or an IP address. For devices running VoiceClient 3.6 or earlier, you can only enter an IP address.
  9. Enter a value in the Services field.
  1. Click Create Task Package.

If there are multiple sites set up in the system, the task package is only created for the site that you are currently viewing. Task packages cannot be shared across sites.

Create a VoiceArtisan Task Package

  1. From the VoiceConsole tab, select Device Management.
  2. Under Navigation, click Task Packages.
  3. Under Task Package Actions, select Create new task package.
    The Select Task page opens.
  4. From the Name drop-down list, select a VoiceArtisan voice application. If you select Import New Task, you can import the voice application. See Import Tasks.
  5. Click Next.
The application reads the .vad voice application file to determine the setting values that it requires.
    The Set Values page opens.
  6. Using letters, numbers, and spaces, enter a name and spoken name for the new task package. You can also enter a description, if desired.
    • Depending on the language used, some other characters are permitted in the Task Package Name field. For example, for the en_US locale, you can also use the space, period, single quote, dash, and underscore characters.
    • The suggested task package name will include a number - if a task package with the selected name already exists - to make it unique. Task package names must be unique to the site where they're defined.
  7. If necessary, configure the settings on the Device Settings tab.
    • Enter advanced settings as setting=value with one setting per line. Any settings entered in the Advanced Settings text box take precedence over any values set above.
  8. If necessary, configure the settings on the Task Settings tab. The fields and associated values that show on the Task Settings tab will vary, according to the .vad file chosen for the task package.
  9. To create a new phonetic substitution, select the Phonetic Sub tab, and do the following:
    1. Enter the information in the proper fields.
      • The Phrase field is case sensitive. An entry of "Talkman" is different from an entry of "talkman."
    2. Click to add the row.
  10. To create a new embedded training prompt, select the Embedded Training tab, and do the following:
    1. Enter the information in the proper fields, separating spoken words with a pipe (|).
    2. Click to add the row.
  11. Click Create Task Package.
