Update Tasks

VoiceConsole allows you to update tasks that are used in more than one task package across multiple sites. When you update tasks, a new set of task packages is created, in addition to the already existing task packages. You have the option to delete the existing task packages, to delete both the existing task packages and the tasks, or to not delete the existing task packages or tasks. You must have the role of Administrator to update tasks.

For VoiceArtisan tasks, changes to .emb or .fil files in a task package may be lost if you update a task contained in that task package.

Update a Task

  1. Import the new task.
  2. Under Navigation, click Tasks.
  3. In the View Tasks list, select the task that you want to update.
  4. Under Task Actions, select Update task.
The Select New Task page opens.
  5. From the New Task drop-down list, select the task that you imported.

For TaskBuilder tasks, the new task that you select must have the same hosts, services, and type as the task that you are updating. However, the values of the host and services do not need to match between the old and new tasks.

For VoiceArtisan voice applications, the new voice application must be the same type as the voice application that you are updating. Only voice applications of the same type as the voice application being updated are available in the drop-down list. Also, the new voice application that you select must have the same descriptor entries - located in the Task Settings text box - as the voice application that you are updating. However, the values of the descriptor entries do not need to match between the old and the new voice application.

  6. Enter a new task package name and spoken name.
  7. Click Next.
If you have more than one site in your system - or the operator has access to more than one site - continue.
If you have only a single site, go to step 10.
    The Select Sites page opens.
  8. Select the sites at which this task will be updated. The sites where this task currently exists are selected by default. If you do not want to update the task at a selected site, deactivate the check box for that site.
  9. Click Next.
The Delete old Tasks and Task Packages page opens.
  10. Specify what action VoiceConsole should perform to the existing tasks and task packages that you are updating.
  11. If necessary, select to replace task packages associated with operators that contain the task being updated.

If you select to delete the old task package, and this option is not selected, the association between an operator and a task package that contains this task is removed.

  12. Click Next.
The Review and Commit Changes page opens.
  13. Review the information that you entered for the task update. Click Previous to go back and edit this information.
  14. Click Finish.
