Pair Devices with Peripheral Hardware
VoiceConsole lets you pair Bluetooth-enabled devices with the following other pieces of equipment:
- Network Printer
- Bluetooth Printer
- Bluetooth Scanner
- SRX/SRX2/SRX3/SRX-SL Wireless Headset
- Display
A device can only be paired with one printer, one scanner, and one headset at the same time. You can pair only one Display with a device at a time.
Sites with a large number of Bluetooth peripherals in a static configuration may define pairings in a file and import them into VoiceConsole, known as bulk pairing. This method is described in Pair Devices with Peripherals in Bulk.
Enable Bluetooth on Peripheral Hardware
To pair a device with peripheral hardware, Bluetooth must be enabled on the device. Some operations or devices - such as the SRX headset - may also require Bluetooth be discoverable. Honeywell recommends setting Bluetooth as both Enabled and Discoverable for any Honeywell Voice device using Bluetooth communications.
- From the VoiceConsole tab, select the Device Management tab.
- Under Navigation, click Devices.
- In the View Devices list, select the device you want to pair with peripheral hardware.
- Under Device Actions, select Manage Devices > Edit selected device.
The Edit Device page opens. - In the Bluetooth settings section, select Enabled from the Bluetooth Enabled drop-down list.
- From the Bluetooth Discoverable drop-down list, select Enabled if the device broadcasts its Bluetooth information so that another Bluetooth-capable device can recognize and pair with it.
- From the Bluetooth Headset Manual Pairing drop-down list, select Enabled if you want to allow a pairing between an SRX Wireless Headset and the device.
- Click Save changes.

Voice Device Pairing Role |
Method of Pairing |
---|---|
Initiator |
RECOMMENDED: Create the pairing between the printer and device within VoiceConsole using the printer Bluetooth address. Honeywell recommends always using the printer that is paired with a Honeywell Voice device. |
Acceptor |
If available, use the printer interface, and enter the Bluetooth address of a Honeywell Voice device. The Honeywell Voice device will then always be paired with that printer until they are unpaired through the printer interface. |
Scanners or other Bluetooth input device
Scanner pairing and use for each supported or tested scanner is fully described here.

Method of Pairing |

Acceptor |
RECOMMENDED: If available, scan the bar code that creates a pairing between the scanner and Honeywell Voice device. This method provides the scanner Bluetooth address and enables operators to pair with any scanner they choose at any point. Honeywell strongly recommends unpairing scanners after use by scanning the bar code that unpairs the scanner to prevent a scanner from unexpectedly pairing with another Honeywell Voice device. See the scanner documentation for information on this method. |
Initiator |
Create the pairing between the scanner and device within VoiceConsole using the scanner Bluetooth address. The Honeywell Voice device will then always be paired with that scanner until they are unpaired within VoiceConsole. Honeywell does not recommend this pairing method because it limits operational flexibility. |
Honeywell SRX, SRX2, or SRX3 Wireless Headset
SRX headsets are always the Bluetooth acceptor.
Voice Device Pairing Role | Method of Pairing |

RECOMMENDED: Enable SRX automatic pairing by setting the configurable parameter SrxAutoPairEnable to 1 in the device profile of the Honeywell Voice device, and have the operator automatically pair the headset and device. For more information on this method, see Manual Pairing in the hardware documentation New or repaired SRX headsets first need to be manually paired. You can then automatically pair the headsets with devices on subsequent pairings. |

Displays are always the Bluetooth acceptor.

Creating a Pairing with a Peripheral Within VoiceConsole
Only a Bluetooth device can be paired with a Bluetooth Printer, Bluetooth Scanner, and SRX Wireless Headset. If the device that you select does not have Bluetooth, only Network Printer will be available from the Pairing Type drop-down.
- From the VoiceConsole tab, select the Device Management tab.
- Under Navigation, click Devices.
- In the View Devices list, select the device you want to pair with peripheral hardware.
- Under Device Actions, select Pair Devices > Pair selected device to a peripheral.
The Pair Device With Peripherals page opens. - From the Pairing Type drop-down list, select the hardware with which you want to create a pairing, and enter additional information, if necessary, about the pairing.
Only Honeywell Voice A700/A700x and A500 devices can be paired with a Display.

Select one of the following Connection Modes:
- Device initiates connection with peripheral: Device begins pairing with the specified peripheral. Enter the peripheral Pairing Name and Bluetooth Address.
- Device listens for peripheral connection: Device searches for a peripheral with which to pair. It will pair with one Bluetooth peripheral in range.
For either of these settings, you can opt to enable Security and enter a Security Key. When security is enabled, data passed between the device and the peripheral is encrypted.
SRX Wireless Headset Enter the headset Pairing Name and Bluetooth Address. Display Enter a Pairing Name and Bluetooth Address. - Click Pair with peripheral.
