Change Site Credentials

Because devices used in Voice-Directed Work do not provide a user interface for entering usernames, passwords, and PINs, Honeywell developed the concept of association type. Association types determine the level at which credentials are required.

Association Types

For each site, you can select one of the following:

Association Type Definition
Site Based There is a single username and password or certificate for all operators and devices at a given site. This option is the closest to what existed in previous versions of VoiceConsole.
Device Based Each device has its own username and password or certificate. In this configuration, operators don't need to be involved in the authentication process, because all authentication is between the device and the authentication server.
Operator Based Each operator must log onto VoiceConsole to enter a username and password and, optionally, a Personal Identification Number. The operator must enter the PIN (if PINs have been enabled for the site) on the device before they can connect to the full network.

If your site is configured to use a site-based association of Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP), site credentials are changed from the View Site page for that site.

Change Credentials for restricted users involves the automatic creation of Load Profiles Action Items for all devices at the site. For the Restricted User, it generates a Load Profile Action Item and Change Credential. For the Unrestricted User (if site-based is used), it generates only a Change Credential. If both are changed at the same time, it generates all three action items.
Large sites (greater than 10 devices) may need to be aware of the mass profile load action items and take necessary steps, such as:
    1. Power off the device (out of the charger).
    2. Rotate the devices—in batches—by placing them back in the charger to complete the profile loads.
This helps to reduce unnecessary load. Contact Technical Support with questions or concerns.

VoiceConsole uses the LDAP repository to verify credentials and to change them on the network when they are changed in VoiceConsole

If an Administrator changes a network user credentials outside of VoiceConsole, VoiceConsole needs to be informed of the change - that is, this information must be manually entered into VoiceConsole.
