Retraining a Word
The LED indicator should be either solid green or blinking green (A500) or have a solid green ring segment or a blinking green ring (A700/A700x).
Retrain a word if your Talkman device has trouble recognizing words that you are saying.
You must be at a prompt where that word is one of the valid vocabulary words that you can say to answer the prompt. You determine this by saying “Talkman, help”. If the word is spoken to you, it is available to be trained.
- Press the Operator button.
- The device says “Current operator is operator name. Select menu item.”
- Press the +/– buttons until it says, “Retrain word.”
- Press the Operator button.
The device says, “Please keep quiet for a few seconds.” - Follow the instructions to complete a background noise sample.
The device says, “Current operator is operator name. Use the Plus and Minus buttons to scroll through the words to train. Press the Operator button to select.” - Use the +/– buttons to scroll through the list of words.
- When you hear the word that you wish to retrain, press the Operator
button.
The first option may be “All numbers.” Select this option if you wish to retrain all numbers and any words (such as “point” or “ready”) included with number responses. If you wish to retrain just one number, continue to scroll through the list of words until you hear the number that you wish to retrain. - Once you have chosen the word to retrain, the device says, “Please say the following words: Word being retrained.” You are then prompted to repeat the selected word ten times.
- After the device has created a new template for the retrained word, it then proceeds with the task from the point at which you left off.
