Load Operator by Scan

This procedure details loading an operator on the device by scanning a bar code, such as a bar code on an operator’s badge.

This function is available for:

• A500/A700/A700x with paired Bluetooth scanner
• A730/A730x with internal scanner
• A500/A720/A720x with serial scanner.

Prerequisites:

• An operator is created in VoiceConsole and assigned an Operator Number.

Refer to the VoiceConsole help for more information on creating operators, device profiles, and tasks.

To use Operator Load by Scan:

1. In VoiceConsole, ensure that the operator has an Operator Number.
2. On the device, press the Operator button.
3. Press the + or – button to scroll through the menu.
4. When the device speaks the menu item, “Load operator by scanning badge”, press the Operator button to select the item.
5. Scan the bar code on the operator’s badge. The bar code contains the operator number, which must match the Operator Number in VoiceConsole.
6. The device speaks:
   “Operator number <number> selected.”
   “Current operator is <name>.”
   “Loading operator.”
   “Loading voice templates.”
   “Please wait.”
   “Current operator <name>.”
   “Goodnight.”

If the operator number in the badge bar code does not match an Operator Number in VoiceConsole, then the device speaks, “No operator exists for operator <number>. Operation canceled. Goodnight.”
