Creating and Editing Users

You must have the appropriate permissions to use this feature.  For an explanation of available permissions, see Roles.

Creating a New User

  1. Under Navigation, click Users.
  2. Under User Actions, selectCreate new user.
    The Create User page opens.
  3. Enter the appropriate information for the new user. Select the roles this user should have and to which sites they should be applied.
  4. Click Create user.

Editing User Properties

  1. Under Navigation, click Users.
  2. In the View Users list, select the row for the user you want to edit.
  3. Under User Actions, select Edit selected user.
    The Edit User page opens.
  4. Modify existing information in the fields, if necessary, and enter the new information.
  5. Click Save changes

Field Definitions

The Create User and Edit User pages contains the following fields:

Field Description
User Name Name this user must provide to log into the application. Must be unique. Once saved, this cannot be edited.
Password

If domain-based authentication is available, select to use the domain password. Otherwise, use a password that a user will enter to log into the application. The value in the Confirm Password field must match what was entered in the Password field.

When SSO is enabled, VoiceCheck does not require user passwords and this field is not displayed.

Name Optional field for the user's full name.
Roles Roles define what a user is allowed to do in the application. Roles are assigned to users, and users can only access features that are accessible by the user's roles.
Sites Give a user the selected roles at all sites, or select one or more specific sites where this user can perform the actions defined by the selected roles
Status Enabled status allows users to log into the application. Users with the disabled status cannot log in.
Email Email address for the user. If provided, critical notification emails will be sent to this address if this user has permissions to view notifications and the system is configured to provide an SMTP address and login.

Change User Status

If you need to disable a user account to prevent someone from logging into the application, can change the Status field on the Administration > Users > Edit User page. This function applies to user accounts created from the Operators page as well.
