Programming Symbol LS3408 Barcode Scanners

You can program the Symbol RS-1 Decoder and the Symbol LS3408-FZ2005 barcode scanner to match the default settings of a Talkman device.

The default settings are:

  • 9600 baud
  • 8 data bits
  • No parity
  • 1 stop bit
  • 2 terminating characters (0x0d and 0x0a)

  2. Scan the following code to ensure that the scanner's parameters are set to the default settings.
    Set All Defaults

  3. Scan the following barcode to set the RS 1 so that it does not use parity.
    Set Parity to None (0x04)

  4. Scan the following barcode to set the RS 1 to send two terminating characters (suffix).
    Set to Send Two Terminating Characters--Data, Suffix1, Suffix2 (0x03)

  5. Scan the following barcode to program terminating character 1 (suffix 1).
    TermChar1 (suffix 1) = 1013 = 0x0D = Carriage Return
    Scan Suffix 1

  6. Scan the following four barcodes to enter the character information.

  7. Scan the following barcode to program terminating character 2 (suffix 2).
    TermChar2 (suffix 2) = 1010 = 0x0A = Line Feed
