Supported Honeywell Scanners

In general, a Bluetooth scanner, if following all standard serial port protocol options properly, should work with Honeywell voice devices. Wired scanners which have cable options available from Honeywell will work with Honeywell voice devices. Specifically, the Honeywell Granit series of wired and wireless scanners have been extensively tested for compatibility and performance.

The following Honeywell scanners are compatible with Honeywell voice devices.

Honeywell Scanner Cable Options

The following two cables are available for connection to the Honeywell Granit series of wired scanners:

  • CBL-801-370-C00 - CBL, GRANIT TO VOCOLLECT TALKMAN, 3.7M (145") COILED
  • CBL-801-300-C00- CBL, GRANIT TO VOCOLLECT TALKMAN, 3.0M (118"), COILED

Supported Third Party Scanners

The Vocollect Voice system supports the use of several styles of barcode readers, including guns, scanners, and wands. Honeywell extends support for the products listed below, but compatibility with Vocollect Voice is not limited to these peripherals. Verify support for your device in the release notes for your version of Vocollect Voice software or contact your Honeywell sales representative.

The barcode reader procedures described in this documentation are only for instances where the Vocollect Voice software manipulates a supported scanner. See the documentation provided by the barcode manufacturer for other barcode procedures.

Notes on barcode reader use

  • Devices must be configured to work with barcode readers. If a device has not been configured, you must set the necessary parameters in the device's voice process software (VCF file) before using a barcode reader with the device.
  • Talkman devices generally support only decoded barcode wands and guns.
  • Vocollect Voice supports barcode readers that are built into a supported handheld device. If you are prompted by the voice engine to scan a barcode, use the built-in barcode reader as the device manufacturer recommends. See the documentation provided by the device manufacturer.
  • Connect the barcode reader to the device before scanning a barcode. Barcode readers have a connector with a blue bend relief. The connector end of the barcode reader is attached to the blue port on the device.
  • You can only scan barcodes when you are prompted for barcode information.

Notes on specific barcode reader models

  • In order to use a supported bluetooth scanner with a Motorola device, you must enable the EnableMotoBTScanner parameter by setting it to 1 in the config.vrg file under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Vocollect\CONFIG_PARAMS\DIAG_FILE].
  • The Intermec SF51 cordless scanner is compatible with some workarounds.
  • Talkman devices will support the Symbol RS 1 Ring Scanner (a non-decoded device) but only when used with an external decode block.

Supported Printers

Vocollect Voice software supports the printers listed in the release notes for your version of Vocollect Voice software. Honeywell extends support for the printers listed below, but compatibility with Vocollect Voice software may not be limited to these peripherals. If you are prompted by the voice engine to print, use the supported printer as the device manufacturer recommends. See the documentation provided by the device manufacturer.
