Zebra RS5100 Scanner

The process below connects the peripheral using the Default profile. To use the Master profile, set the following:

Scanner as Initiator, A700x as Acceptor

This method is supported on A700x.

Configure RS5100 Scanner

  1. Perform a clean boot for the scanner:
    1. Make sure the battery is inserted and the scanner is turned on.

    2. Press and hold the Restore key until the System LED turns on white.

    3. Release the Restore key and immediately press and hold the Restore key.

    4. Continue to hold the Restore key until two beeps indicating a Clean Boot are heard and the scanner boot beep sequence is heard.

    5. The RS5100 is now in its factory default configuration.

  2. Scan the SPP Bluetooth Classic (Non-discoverable) barcode:

  3. Add an Enter key (Carriage Return / Line Feed) to each scan by scanning the following barcode:

  4. The scanner is ready to be paired.

Configure Task and VoiceConsole

  1. Set the following advanced parameter in the task package: barcodeport = bt_scan
  2. Set the following parameter in the Device Profile to make sure Bluetooth is enabled and the Talkman device is listening:

  3. Create pairing barcodes. Pairing barcodes must be Code 128, with a leading FNC3 character, followed by “B” or “LnkB”. This can be found on a sticker inside the battery compartment on the A700x device. Example below:

A700x as Initiator, Scanner as Acceptor

This method requires the device profile to contain the Bluetooth Role Reversal parameter below.

  3. Add an Enter key (Carriage Return / Line Feed) to each scan by scanning the following barcode:

  4. The scanner is now discoverable as a Bluetooth device.

Configure Task and VoiceConsole

  1. Set the following advanced parameter in the task package: barcodeport = bt_scan
  2. View the properties of the A700xe and ensure Bluetooth is enabled. If it is not enabled, click Edit this device and set Bluetooth Enabled to "enabled".

  3. Select Pair this device with a peripheral.

  4. For Pairing type select "Bluetooth Scanner".

  5. For Connection Mode select "Device initiates connection with peripheral".

  6. In the Bluetooth Address field, enter the Bluetooth address of the scanner. This 12-character ID can be found within a 2D barcode on a label under the scanner’s battery on select units. For details to obtain the Bluetooth address from another device, reference documentation provided with the Zebra device.

  7. For Security select "Enabled" or "Disabled" as desired.

  8. If security is enabled, enter "12345" for Security Key.

  9. Click Pair with peripheral to initiate pairing.
